Cylindrical roller bearings have separable rings which facilitates mounting and removal. The two rings can if necessary be mounted tightened. Cylindrical roller bearings have a high radial load capacity due to the linear rollers in contact with the raceways and are suitable for high rotation speeds.

N and NU type rollers are free-end bearings.

NJ bearings are capable of taking some axial load in one direction.

NUP bearings are mounted as fixed bearings since they accommodate axial loads in both directions.

NJ bearings, associated with an HJ thrust collar are also used as fixed bearings.

Depending on the presence of thrust collars on the inner and outer rings, cylindrical roller bearings are classified as follows:

Cages :

Cylindrical roller bearings have pressed steel or machined brass cages. ET type cylindrical roller bearings have fibreglass reinforced polyamide cages and can be used at constant temperatures of 125°C (150°C for short periods).

Acceptable misalignment:

Misalignment faults for cylindrical roller bearings vary since they depend on the type and internal specifications. Under normal loads, the angles are approximately as follows:

Cylindrical roller bearings, series 0 or 1 width: 4 minutes

Cylindrical roller bearings, series 2 width: 2 minutes
