Self-aligning ball bearings have two raceways on the inner ring and one spherical raceway on the outer ring. They can accommodate considerable misalignment due to shaft deflection or inaccurate shaft or housing machining.
Self-aligning ball bearings are made with a cylindrical or tapered bore. Tapered bore bearings are often fixed onto shafts using an adaptor sleeve.
Cages :
Self-aligning ball bearings are equipped with pressed steel cages but brass or polyamide are also available.
Special features:
On certain self-aligning ball bearings, the balls extend slightly beyond the side faces of the bearing.
| Type of bearing | S (mm) |
| 2222(K); 2316(K) | 0,5 |
| 2319(K); 2320(K); 2321(K); 2322(K) | 0,5 |
| 1318(K) | 1,5 |
| 1319(K) | 2 |
| 1320(K); 1321(K); 1322(K) | 3 |
Acceptable misalignment:
By their design, self-aligning ball bearings allow for maximum misalignment of 4°. This angle should nonetheless be reduced since the surrounding structure must be taken into account, the leaktight system envisaged in particular.
Temperature of use:
From -40°C to +125°C (peak at + 150°C)
