Composition of the Silver-Lube housing body
Silver-Lube housing bodies are made of Valox® 420, a polyester thermoplastic resin, charged 30% with high-quality fibreglass, excellent solidity, rigidity, shape stability and chemical resistance.
Hygiene
Silver-Lube housing bodies are corrosion resistant, without any paint or coating to avoid flaking. The extremely smooth surfaces are resistant to dust, mould and bacteria, making Silver-Lube housings ideal products for industries where cleanliness is vital.
During tests as per the ASTM G21-70 standard, Valox® resin proved resistant to the following types of mould:
- Aspergillus niger,
- Penicillium faneculosium,
- Chaetomium globosum,
- Giiocladium virens,
- Aureobasidium pullulans.

Heat resistance
Operating temperature: -20° to +90°C.
To assess the resistance of housing bodies, it is important to establish the operating temperature of the housing rather than simply the ambient temperature, the housing load and the speed of the parts it holds.
When this speed is high, the operating temperature often exceeds60°C.
Chemical resistance
Generally speaking, Silver-Lube housing bodies have excellent resistance to a wide range of chemical products.
Behaviour of housing bodies in contact with categories of chemicals

This data does not take into account the behaviour of Silver-Lube housings in contact with a combination of products or special environments such as higher pressure or temperatures.
All this data is expressed in terms of a resistance retention percentage.
Water and steam resistance
Silver-Lube housing bodies are specially designed for frequent, abundant washing. If continuously immersed, they retain 95% of their resistance up to 65°C. They can nonetheless withstand higher temperatures without any difficulty, if intermittent.
Ultraviolet resistance
Natural colour Valox®420-1001 resin was subjected to ageing tests under ultraviolet light, consisting of direct exposure to sunlight in Florida and Arizona for 5 years.
Following these tests, the resin retained 75% of its original resistance and flexibility.
Housing body solidity
The maximum load capacities recommended in the tables below are understood to apply to normal conditions of use. In the event of exposure to an aggressive or weakening environment, these theoretical values should be reduced accordingly.
To optimise the load capacity, washers should be used for fastening housings and the maximum bolt tightening torques adhered to (the values indicated in the PSF table remain valid for PSFTs and PNPs).

Silver-Lube housing bearings
Bearings are made of QD51, a modified type 440C stainless steel, and filled with Chevron Poly FM2, a grease compliant with the USDA H1 food safety standard.
They can operate continuously from -20 to +90°C.
Dimensions
Silver-Lube housings are interchangeable with those in the traditional Self-Lube® RHP range. However, certain non-critical dimensions are different.
